The Environmental Quality Board is excited to announce the selection of Rob Singletary as the new executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

“The board is confident in its appointment of Rob as DEQ’s executive director. He has proven an effective leader in his years at DEQ, and we believe he is the perfect person to build on the progress made by the previous director,” said Environmental Quality Board Chair Mike Paque.

Singletary replaces Scott Thompson who retired June 1.

Singletary has almost 21 years of public service and previously served as: Deputy Executive Director, Chief of Staff, and General Counsel of DEQ; General Counsel of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board; Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Unit at the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General; Environmental Attorney for the U.S. Army Environmental Command; and in private practice focusing on environmental and natural resource issues.

“I am honored to be named DEQ’s new executive director. Protecting public health and the environment is at the forefront of everything we do, and I intend to continue our agency’s path always working to make Oklahoma a great, safe place to live,” said Singletary.

Singletary graduated with a B.B.A. in Management from Texas A&M University and graduated, with honor, from the University of Tulsa College of Law, earning certificates in both Public Policy and Resource, Energy, and Environmental Law.
