Air Quality Awareness Week begins on May 6 and runs through May 10. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is partnering with NASA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Department of Energy, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as state, local, and Tribal agencies to share information with the public about efforts to protect and improve air quality. This year’s theme is “Knowing Your Air” and each day will highlight an important air quality topic.
The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is dedicated to educating Oklahomans about the importance of air quality in their lives. Through its social media platforms, DEQ will showcase the efforts of staff meteorologists to forecast air quality, advise people on simple ways they can improve air quality, and help Oklahomans make informed choices about their health.
For more information on air quality, please visit www.deq.ok.gov/divisions/aqd/ and be sure to follow DEQ on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube.
