For Immediate Release: April 22, 2019

Contact: Erin Hatfield (405) 702-7119

A household hazardous waste collection event will be held at the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) Stroud Maintenance Facility, located at 123 Turnpike Road on April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Household hazardous waste, used tires (removed from the wheel), old pharmaceuticals, and electronic waste will be collected and transported to an approved site for proper disposal.

Tire recycling can repurpose millions of pounds of old rubber into new life as playground surface or new roadway pavement. Oklahomans throw away about one tire per person each year. Oklahoma is a national leader in tire recycling.

Proper disposal of unwanted items is crucial to keep our state beautiful for Oklahomans and tourists. This event has been registered for the Great American Cleanup.
